The golfer behind Broken Standard.
Jason got into golf because his friends played and invited him along. What started as a way to spend time with friends soon became something he genuinely enjoyed—and something he became increasingly competitive with himself about.
Like a lot of golfers, when his game wasn't where he wanted it to be, his first instinct was to work on his swing. He made adjustments, tried to improve and kept looking for answers. But when those changes didn't always produce the results he wanted, he started asking a different question: What if it wasn't only the swing?
That question opened up an entirely different side of golf.
Jason began exploring equipment beyond what he'd always seen in big-box stores—different manufacturers, shafts, club configurations and options he hadn't known existed. More importantly, he discovered what the right equipment could do for his game.
It changed the way he played—and the way he thought about golf equipment.
Jason also learned that the clubs getting the most attention, including those played by the pros, aren't necessarily the best clubs for the everyday golfer. The right equipment is the equipment that works with your swing, your game and what you're trying to accomplish.
That's the experience he wants to bring to Broken Standard. Take the time. Look beyond the obvious choices. Find the right equipment for the golfer standing in front of him—and have that golfer leave knowing what's in their bag was chosen specifically to help them play their game better.

MEET SHANNON
And the other half of Broken Standard.
Meet Shannon — operations, organization, creative direction and occasional reminder that an idea eventually needs a plan.
While Jason focuses on fittings, equipment and finding what works for each golfer, Shannon handles much of what happens behind the scenes — from the business side and client experience to the branding, details and seemingly endless list of things required to turn a really good idea into an actual business.
Unlike Jason, Shannon doesn't exactly enjoy golf for the sake of golf. She plays, but she's much happier when there's a golf cart, a little nonsense and preferably a tournament that doesn't take itself too seriously. Most of the time, she's there because spending a day on the course with Jason beats not seeing him while he's on the course.
And somewhere along the way, all those rounds, golf trips and conversations about clubs, shafts and equipment she never intended to know quite so much about became part of their story, too.
Broken Standard may be Jason's golf obsession, but it's something they're building together. Jason brings the passion for the game and the equipment; Shannon helps turn that passion into the experience, brand and business behind it.

Golf has taken us places.
From Alaska to Mexico, golf has taken us to some pretty great places — and given us even better stories along the way. One of our favorites? Getting to play a round with a former NFL player on our home course. For a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan like Shannon, that was a pretty good day.
